Two waterways cross the town
Both the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal run through Banbury. Canal-side living has strong character, while drainage and flood risk vary significantly by site.

Banbury has a broad mix of leasehold property: older town centre buildings converted to flats, canal-side and former industrial conversions, and newer housing estates on the edges of town.
Banbury is around thirty miles from Abingdon and is covered on our north Oxfordshire visits.
Former commercial and industrial buildings converted into apartments can be excellent places to live and awkward things to manage: large roof areas, unusual structural arrangements, shared plant and, frequently, compartmentation and escape route issues identified after conversion.
Canal and water-adjacent buildings add damp, external decoration and drainage pressures that need a realistic renewal cycle rather than an optimistic one.

Older buildings divided into flats where fabric maintenance and fire safety dominate the workload.
Conversions with large roofs, shared plant and exposure to weather and water.
Housing estates with parking courts, open space and unadopted drainage funded through an estate charge.
The newer estates around Banbury bring the usual private infrastructure: roads and parking courts, lighting, open space, play areas and drainage, funded through an estate charge. We budget for them properly, inspect them, and report to residents on what has been spent.
No. We manage developments across north Oxfordshire and set an attendance frequency for each site, with contractors instructed locally so urgent work does not wait for a visit.
They need prioritising by risk, costing, and funding through the budget or reserves. We put them on a tracker so you can see what has been completed and what remains.
Tell us about the development and we will explain how we would manage it, how often we would attend and what it would cost.
